Question : The v-t graph for a particle is as shown. The distance travelled in the first four second is

(a) 12m

(b) 16m

(c) 20m

(d) 24m

Answer : The right option is (b)

Solution :

The distance travelled is basically the path length between the two points.

Here, in case of v-t graph it is given by area under the graph

Distance = Area under the graph upto t=4s.

Area= (1/2) * base * height

Therefore, Area = (1/2)*(4)*(8) = 16m

Distance is 16m for the first 4 seconds.
